I am so thrilled to bring you yet another fantastic product from the Neostrata folks. This one comes from the Exuviance line of their specialty anti ageing products.I was sent a jar of their Exuviance Skinrise Bionic Tonic which I immediately tore into. The jar contains 36 pads that are soaking in a fabulous liquid that smells of cool, clean green cucumbers and eucalyptus.

This is meant to be used as a toner which will balance your skin after cleansing. It also includes anti ageing properties, so you are getting several processes in one little pad. It works to bring out your radiant complexion with enhanced clarity, smoothness and firmness with an anti aging treatment toner that also protects the skin against free radicals. This is loaded up with lovely antioxidant protection from Pro-Vitamins A, C and E as well as being infused with Cucumber and Eucalyptus and green tea extract that helps to tone and protect your stressed skin from free radicals.

I used a pad all over my face and neck each morning after getting out of the shower. It is so refreshing and cool. It felt lovely. There was no drying of my skin at all. It absorbs and dries extremely quickly so you are not waiting around for it to soak in. You can go right on with the rest of your makeup or skin care processes. There is a marine botanical added to moisturize and condition your skin and this is of course Alcohol-free.I am very pleased with how my skin felt and loved the Exuviance SkinRise Bionic Tonic. It was a wonderful additional to my morning skin care regime and I give it 2 thumbs up!  I think you will love it too!

Medik8 is the brainchild of British pharmacologist Eliot Isaacs – and it is also made in the UK to keep its authenticity intact.This little skin research company is primarily interested in the field of sensitive skin green or natural based cosmeceuticals. Their premise is to provide a range for sensitive skin for all skin types rather than just a general sensitive skin care range.  To that end, they use methods, delivery systems and ingredients specially selected to work well for reactive skin without producing irritation. Cosmeceuticals contain more active ingredients in most cases, and these ingredients can cause reactions in fine, thin, fair skin or any skin type that is sensitive some or most of the time. Medik8 is a good alternative for someone who wants to use anti-ageing skin care but is worried about stinging, bumps or redness and flaking.  It is also a good introductory range for new cosmeceutical users who are just starting to upgrade their skin care regime.  If you have truly sensitive skin and react to everything you use, ONLY use one new product at a time and use sparingly. If you feel stinging or burning, wash it off immediately.

Red Alert Cleanse – This gentle foaming cleanser is designed to prevent flare ups. It comes in a self-foaming pump to make it easy to apply without aggressively rubbing the skin. The key ingreidents are Medik8’s Teprenone to manage redness, vitamin K to promote healing of capiliary walls and organic orange oil to reduce irritation. Effective for all skin types, even the most mature skin.

CE- Tetra – This Vitamin C serum has been shown to stimulate collagen synthesis, increase  elasticity and skin density and improve texture and brightness. CE-Tetra is especially mild to it will not cause irritation. If you have tried other vitamin C serums, such as SkinCeuticals, and it caused stinging, you may find the Medik8 variation to be easier to tolerate. It comes in a brown glass bottle with a stopper and only a few drops are needed to get the effect.

Firma Derma Skin Firming Serum for Neck and Decollete – Firma Derma containts DMAE, a well known antioxidant and lifting ingredient that has been shown to aid in skin sagging.  DMAE is touted to increase levels of the brain neurotransmitter called Acetylcholine which stimulates muscle fibres in the skin – to act like a topical form of BOTOX.  The delicate skin on the neck and décolleté are all too commonly overlooked. Use 5-6 drops and massage into clean skin day and night for best results.

How to use a Dermaroller

The Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller with 0.2mm microneedle length has been designed for personal, cosmetic use at home, as part of the Medik8 skin care regimen. Their main purpose is to enhance the penetration of active ingredients from the Medik8 Serums and creams into the deeper layers of the skin, which leads to an incredible increase in their efficacy. The minuscule skin “tunnels” created by the roller support the absorption of the active ingredients from Medik8 formulae dramatically, which helps to improve and maintain the healthy appearance of the skin. 
The Personal Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller models are also recommended for use in between clinical or medical Skin Needling treatments, usually set 2-3 months apart, and after the closure of the clinical/medical treatment programmes, to sustain skin regeneration results. Due to minimal level of needle insertion, the Personal Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller models are safe to use at home and are regarded as practically pain-free by the majority of users. 


The Personal Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller models are associated with very little downtime when used vigorously and with none if used as per instructions. Use a 0.3mm version if your skin is comparatively thick and resistant to pain or if you are not new to microneedle rollers and would like to obtain more spectacular results. Directions of Use: 

1. STERLISE:  Sterilise the Medik8 Titanium Dermaroller with a Sterilising Solution and allow to dry before every use.

2. CLEANSE:  Cleanse face, neck and décolleté using Medik8 One Cleanse Purifying Cleanser or your preferred Medik8 foaming cleanser suitable for your skin type and pat skin dry. 

3. ROLL:  Visually divide the skin into sections (forehead, left cheek, right cheek, nose, chin, left side of the neck etc.) Using a constant, gentle rolling motion roll 10 times back and forth over each skin section. 

4. PREVENT:  Apply Medik8 Vitamin C Serum - C-Tetra or CE-Tetra and allow to absorb. 

5. CORRECT:  Apply Medik8 Retinol 3TR Serum and allow to absorb. Alternatively mix Retinol 40 Boost with Hydr8 Resveratrol Night as per the instructions and skip the HYDR8 step. 

6. HYDR8:  Finish with Hydr8 Night.

7. FINISH: Clean roller with hot water and pat dry.

Treatment duration: 5 – 20 minutes, depending on the speed of rolling and the size of treatment area. Frequency of use: 2 – 7 times per week, depending on skin tolerance. To build up skin tolerance to Skin Needling, allow 3 day intervals between treatments for a minimum of 2 weeks. Gradually increase frequency of use, as your skin becomes adjusted to needling. IMPORTANT - Do not use more than once a day. Optimal treatment time: At night
